Muddle the Ingredients
In an old-fashioned glass, place the sugar cube and add the Angostura bitters and water. Muddle with a muddler or the back of a spoon until the sugar is dissolved.

Fill the glass with ice cubes and pour the bourbon or rye whiskey over the ice. Stir gently to combine.
