Method
Preparing the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
Prepare the Breading Station
Set up three shallow dishes. In the first dish, add the all-purpose flour. In the second dish, whisk together the eggs and milk. In the third dish, combine the bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 2
Bread the Mozzarella Sticks
Take each mozzarella stick and coat it in flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip it in the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat it in the seasoned bread crumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat for all mozzarella sticks.
- 3
Chill the Sticks
Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to help the coating adhere during frying.
Frying the Mozzarella Sticks
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil is at the right temperature.
- 5
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully add the frozen mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Making the Marinara Sauce
- 6
Sauté the Garlic
In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
- 7
Serving
- 8
Serve the crispy mozzarella sticks hot with the marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
