Method
Burger Preparation
- 1
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the veggie burgers.
- 2
Prepare Black Beans
In a large mixing bowl, drain and rinse the black beans. Use a fork or a potato masher to mash the beans until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
- 3
Mix Ingredients
Add the rolled oats, grated carrot, diced red bell pepper, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the mashed black beans. Mix everything until well combined.
- 4
Form Patties
Using your hands, form the mixture into burger patties, about 4 in total, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 5
Bake Patties
Drizzle the olive oil over the patties and bake them in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are firm and slightly crispy on the outside.
Assembly
- 6
Toast the Buns
While the patties are baking, toast the potato buns in a skillet or toaster until they are golden brown.
- 7
Assemble the Burger
Once the patties are done, place each patty on the bottom half of the toasted buns. Add your choice of toppings such as lettuce, tomato slices, avocado, and cheese if using. Top with the other half of the bun.
- 8
Serve
Serve the black bean veggie burgers warm with your favorite side dishes. Enjoy!
