For the Bavarian Honey-Baked Ham

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ham

Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Place the ham on a rack in a roasting pan, cut side down.

  2. 2

    Make the Glaze

In a saucepan, combine honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, black pepper, and apple cider vinegar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. 3

    Glaze the Ham

Brush the glaze generously over the ham, reserving some for basting.

  4. 4

    Bake the Ham

Bake the ham in the preheated oven, basting every 30 minutes with the reserved glaze. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C), about 1.5 to 2 hours.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing. Serve with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and choice of bread or roll.
