Strudel Filling

Method

Strudel Assembly

  1. 1

    Prepare the Apple Filling

In a large bowl, combine the peeled and sliced Granny Smith apples, golden raisins, chopped walnuts, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are well coated and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Strudel Dough

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the strudel dough (or phyllo dough) into a large rectangle. Brush the dough with melted butter and layer a second sheet on top. Repeat this process until you have about 5 sheets.

  3. 3

    Fill the Strudel

Spread the apple mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Carefully roll the dough from one end to the other, tucking in the sides as you go to contain the filling.

  4. 4

    Bake the Strudel

Place the rolled strudel seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the top with melted butter. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
