Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the PBR beer until the batter reaches a smooth, thick consistency.
- 2
Prepare the Cod
Pat the Atlantic cod fillets dry with paper towels. This will help the batter adhere better.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Batter the Cod
Dip each cod fillet into the beer batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 5
Fry the Cod
Carefully place the battered cod fillets into the hot oil, frying in batches if needed. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried cod and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 6
Serve
Serve the beer battered cod hot with hand-cut fries, tartar sauce, and a lemon wedge.
