Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cake

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the bittersweet chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water or in the microwave, stirring until smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix the Batter

Remove the melted chocolate mixture from heat and stir in granulated sugar until dissolved. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and cocoa powder until fully combined.

  4. 4

    Bake the Torte

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  5. 5

    Cool and Serve

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Serve slices of the torte topped with mixed berries and a dollop of whipped cream, garnished with mint leaves.
