Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Seasonings

Once the water is boiling, add 2 tablespoons of Old Bay seasoning and 2 tablespoons of salt. Stir to dissolve.

  3. 3

    Cook Shrimp

Carefully add 1 pound of large shrimp to the boiling water. Allow the shrimp to cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque.

  4. 4

    Ice Bath

Prepare a large bowl with ice water. Once the shrimp are cooked, immediately transfer them to the ice bath to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.

  5. 5

    Drain Shrimp

After cooling, drain the shrimp and set them aside on a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Cocktail Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Mix Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of horseradish, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce.

  2. 7

    Adjust Flavor

Add hot sauce to taste, mixing well to combine all ingredients. Adjust the amount of horseradish and hot sauce based on your preferred spice level.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate and Serve

Arrange the chilled shrimp on a serving platter and serve with the zesty cocktail sauce on the side for dipping.
