Pasta Dough

Optional Toppings

Method

Pasta Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and crack in the eggs. Add olive oil.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Using a fork, beat the eggs and gradually incorporate the flour until a rough dough forms. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.

  3. 3

    Rest the Dough

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.

Pasta Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Garlic

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Add crushed tomatoes, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Finish the Sauce

Reduce heat and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes. Stir in fresh basil just before serving.

Pasta Cooking

  1. 7

    Roll Out the Dough

After resting, divide the dough into quarters. Roll each piece out thinly using a pasta machine or rolling pin.

  2. 8

    Cut the Pasta

Cut the rolled-out dough into your desired shape (e.g., fettuccine, tagliatelle).

  3. 9

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta for 2-4 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Assembly

  1. 10

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

In the same skillet with the sauce, add the cooked pasta and toss to coat evenly.

  2. 11

    Serve

Plate the pasta and top with grated Parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper flakes if desired.
