Method

Bolognese Sauce Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Garlic and Meat

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red wine. Bring to a simmer and cook uncovered for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Ricotta Mixture Preparation

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, chopped parsley, and salt until well combined.

Lasagna Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

In a baking dish, spread a layer of bolognese sauce on the bottom. Place 3 sheets of lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of bolognese sauce. Sprinkle with half of the grated Parmesan and half of the shredded mozzarella.

  3. 7

    Repeat Layers

Repeat the layering process: noodles, ricotta, bolognese sauce, Parmesan, and mozzarella until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of bolognese sauce topped with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.

  4. 8

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  5. 9

    Let it Rest

Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
