Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Sausage and Vegetables

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned, breaking it into crumbles with a spoon. Add diced onion, chopped green bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Marinara Sauce

Stir in the marinara sauce, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Cook the Lasagna Noodles

While the sauce simmers, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Assembling the Lasagna

  1. 4

    Layer the Ingredients

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the sausage and pepper mixture on the bottom. Add a layer of lasagna noodles, followed by half of the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, and a third of the marinara sauce. Repeat the layers.

  2. 5

    Top the Lasagna

For the final layer, add the remaining noodles, the rest of the marinara sauce, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Baking

  1. 6

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  2. 7

    Let it Rest

Once baked, remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
