Method

Mushroom Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Mushrooms

Using a damp cloth, gently wipe the Portobello mushrooms to remove any dirt. Remove the stems and gills using a spoon.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Mushrooms

In a bowl, mix the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Place the mushrooms in the marinade and let them sit for at least 15 minutes, ensuring they are well coated.

Grilling the Mushrooms

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Grill the Mushrooms

Place the marinated Portobello mushrooms on the grill, gill side down. Grill for about 5-7 minutes, then flip and grill for another 5-7 minutes until tender and nicely charred.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice the Ingredients

While the mushrooms are grilling, slice the fresh mozzarella cheese and tomatoes into thick slices.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 6

    Add Toppings

Once the mushrooms are fully grilled, remove them from the grill and place them on a serving plate. Top each mushroom with slices of fresh mozzarella and tomato.

  2. 7

    Garnish with Basil

Add fresh basil leaves on top of the cheese and tomato. Drizzle with a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve the grilled Portobello mushrooms warm as a delicious appetizer or main dish.
