Method
Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

Cook Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving about 1 cup of pasta water.
Making the Alfredo Sauce

Melt Butter
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

Add Heavy Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add Cheese and Seasoning
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Combining and Serving

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked fettuccine to the Alfredo sauce, tossing well to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.

Serve immediately, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.
