Pasta

Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Fettuccine

Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving about 1 cup of pasta water.

Making the Alfredo Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 6

    Add Heavy Cream

Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 7

    Add Cheese and Seasoning

Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Combining and Serving

  1. 8

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked fettuccine to the Alfredo sauce, tossing well to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.

  2. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Serve immediately, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.
