Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. 2

    Cook the noodles

Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the cannelloni noodles for 5 minutes until slightly softened. Drain and set aside.

Filling

  1. 3

    Prepare the filling

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened.

  2. 4

    Cook the beef

Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.

  3. 5

    Mix the filling

In a bowl, combine the cooked beef, Parmesan cheese, Ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Stuff the noodles

Using a piping bag or a spoon, fill each cannelloni noodle with the beef and cheese mixture.

  2. 7

    Arrange in baking dish

Spread a layer of tomato sauce or white sauce at the bottom of a baking dish. Place the stuffed cannelloni on top.

  3. 8

    Add sauce

Cover the stuffed noodles with the remaining tomato sauce or white sauce, ensuring they are well coated.

Baking

  1. 9

    Top with cheese

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.

  2. 10

    Bake

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  3. 11

    Garnish and serve

Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh basil leaves, and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
