Cake Ingredients

Method

Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs

Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with whole milk. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Prepare Milk Mixture

In a bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk until well combined.

  8. 8

    Soak the Cake

Once the cake is baked and slightly cooled, poke holes all over the top with a fork. Gradually pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.

  9. 9

    Prepare Topping

Spread marshmallows evenly over the top of the soaked cake.

  10. 10

    Flambé

Using a kitchen torch, carefully flambé the marshmallows by adding rum or high-proof liquor and igniting it until the marshmallows are golden and slightly charred.
