Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork Carnitas

In a slow cooker, combine the pork shoulder, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chopped onion and enough water to cover the pork. Cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender.

  2. 2

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, shred the pork using two forks and mix it with the juices in the slow cooker. If desired, you can broil the pork for a few minutes for a crispy texture.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Toppings

While the pork is cooking, chop the cilantro, dice the avocado, and prepare the salsa tomatillo.

  4. 4

    Warm the Tortillas

In a skillet, warm the corn tortillas over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side until heated through.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Tacos

On each tortilla, place a generous portion of the spicy pork carnitas. Top with chopped cilantro, diced avocado, chicharron, and salsa tomatillo. Squeeze lime juice on top to taste.
