Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven and Pans

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well blended.

  3. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Chocolate

Fold in the chopped Abuelita chocolate until evenly distributed.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  7. 7

    Serve with Vanilla Gelato

Once the cakes are completely cooled, serve slices with a scoop of vanilla gelato on the side.
