Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. 2

    Warm the Beef Broth

In a saucepan, heat the beef broth over medium heat until it is warm but not boiling. This will be used for dipping.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Sandwiches

Cut the French rolls or baguette in half. Layer the bottom half of each roll with sliced roast beef, then top with the sautéed onions and provolone cheese.

  4. 4

    Melt the Cheese

Place the assembled sandwiches under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove the sandwiches from the broiler and serve hot with the warm beef broth on the side for dipping.
