Tater Tots Ingredients

Method

Tater Tots Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into quarters. Boil them in salted water for about 10-15 minutes until fork-tender. Drain and let them cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mash the Potatoes

Once the potatoes are cooled, mash them in a large bowl until smooth. Avoid over-mashing; some small lumps are okay.

  3. 3

    Mix the Ingredients

Add cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to the mashed potatoes. Mix until well combined.

  4. 4

    Form the Tater Tots

Take small portions of the potato mixture and shape them into small cylinders (or tots). Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  5. 5

    Fry the Tater Tots

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot over medium-high heat. Fry the tater tots in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the tater tots with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
