Beer Battered Mushrooms

Method

Preparation and Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mushrooms

Clean the button mushrooms with a damp cloth and remove any stems if necessary. Pat them dry and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and has no lumps.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

  4. 4

    Batter the Mushrooms

Dip each mushroom into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  5. 5

    Fry the Mushrooms

Carefully place the battered mushrooms into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried mushrooms from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with horseradish dipping sauce.
