Wash the fresh broccoli florets thoroughly under cold water and cut them into bite-sized pieces.

Fill a pot with about an inch of water and place a steamer basket inside. Ensure the water does not touch the bottom of the basket. Bring the water to a boil.

Once the water is boiling, add the broccoli florets to the steamer basket, cover the pot, and steam for about 5-7 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp.
