Kombucha Base

Method

Kombucha Preparation

1

Step 1: Brew the Tea

Boil 4 cups of water in a large pot. Remove from heat and add 1 cup of sugar, stirring until dissolved. Add 4 tablespoons of black tea leaves and steep for 10-15 minutes.

2

Step 2: Cool the Tea

Remove the tea leaves and let the sweetened tea cool to room temperature.

3

Step 3: Combine Ingredients

Once the tea has cooled, pour it into a large glass jar. Add 1 cup of starter tea and gently place the SCOBY on top.

4

Step 4: Fermentation

Cover the jar with a clean cloth or coffee filter and secure it with a rubber band. Allow the kombucha to ferment at room temperature for 7-14 days, depending on your taste preference.

5

Step 5: Taste and Bottle

After the fermentation period, taste your kombucha. If it's to your liking, remove the SCOBY and set it aside. Pour the kombucha into bottles, leaving some space at the top.

6

Step 6: Second Fermentation (Optional)

For added flavor, you can add fruits, herbs, or spices to the bottles before sealing. Seal the bottles and leave them at room temperature for 3-7 days to carbonate.

7

Step 7: Refrigerate and Enjoy

Once carbonated, refrigerate your kombucha to stop the fermentation process. Serve chilled and enjoy your refreshing non-alcoholic Motherlove Kombucha!
