Po-Boy Ingredients
Method
Po-Boy Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Breading
In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg.
- 2
Coat the Seafood
Dip shrimp or oysters into the buttermilk mixture, then coat them in the cornmeal mixture. Ensure they are evenly coated.
- 3
Fry the Seafood
Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the coated shrimp or oysters in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 4
Assemble the Po-Boy
Slice the French bread or hoagie rolls lengthwise. Spread remoulade sauce inside, then layer with lettuce, sliced tomato, pickles, and the fried seafood.
- 5
Serve
Cut the Po-Boy in half and serve immediately with extra remoulade sauce on the side.
