Fried Oysters Ingredients
Method
Fried Oysters Directions
- 1
Prepare the Oysters
Rinse the fresh oysters under cold water and drain them well. Pat them dry with paper towels.
- 2
Make the Breading
In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
- 3
Dunk in Buttermilk
Pour the buttermilk into another shallow dish. Dip each oyster into the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off.
- 4
Coat the Oysters
Dredge the buttermilk-coated oysters in the flour mixture until fully coated. Shake off any excess.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- 6
Fry the Oysters
Carefully add the coated oysters to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried oysters from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with lemon wedges.
