Focaccia Ingredients
Method
Focaccia Directions
- 1
Prepare the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- 5
Shape the Dough
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and spread it out onto a greased baking sheet. Use your fingers to create dimples in the surface.
- 6
Second Rise
Cover the shaped dough with a cloth and let it rise for an additional 20-30 minutes.
- 7
Add Toppings
Drizzle olive oil over the dough, sprinkle with fresh rosemary and coarse sea salt.
- 8
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- 9
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
