BBQ Brisket Ingredients

Method

BBQ Brisket Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brisket

Trim excess fat from the brisket and pat it dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Make the Rub

In a bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until well combined.

  3. 3

    Season the Brisket

Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Let it sit for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator for best results.

  4. 4

    Preheat the Smoker

Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C). If using a grill, set it up for indirect heating.

  5. 5

    Smoke the Brisket

Place the brisket in the smoker or on the grill. Smoke for about 1 hour per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 195°F (90°C).

  6. 6

    Add Liquid Smoke

During the last hour of smoking, brush the brisket with liquid smoke to enhance the flavor.

  7. 7

    Rest the Brisket

Once done, remove the brisket from the heat and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice against the grain and serve with BBQ sauce on the side.
