Onion Rings
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Gradually whisk in the cold sparkling water until the batter is smooth and thick.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Rings
Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Using a slotted spoon, remove the onion rings and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve immediately with loop sauce.
