Method
Brewing the Tea
- 1
Boil the Water
In a large saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat.
- 2
Steep the Tea
Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add the 4 black tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for about 5 minutes for a strong flavor.
- 3
Remove Tea Bags
After steeping, remove the tea bags carefully to avoid bitterness. You can gently press them against the side of the pan to extract more flavor.
Sweetening the Tea
- 4
Add Sugar
While the tea is still warm, stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar until fully dissolved. This will create a sweet base for your sweet tea.
Flavoring the Tea (Optional)
- 5
Add Lemon Juice and Mint
If desired, stir in 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice for a zesty flavor and add mint leaves for a refreshing touch.
Cooling and Serving
- 6
Chill the Tea
Allow the tea to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Then, transfer it to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours.
- 7
Serve
Serve the sweet tea over ice in tall glasses. Garnish with additional mint leaves or lemon slices, if desired.
