Baked Macaroni

Method

Fried Chicken

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Flour Mix

In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour and cornstarch. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Coat the Chicken

Remove chicken from buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing the flour onto the surface to create a good coating.

  5. 5

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully place the coated chicken into the hot oil. Fry for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C). Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

Whipped Honey Butter

  1. 6

    Mix Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter, honey, and salt. Using a hand mixer or spatula, whip until the mixture is light and fluffy. Set aside.

Baked Macaroni

  1. 7

    Cook the Macaroni

In a large pot, boil water and add a pinch of salt. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 8

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add the milk, whisking until smooth. Stir in the cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt and black pepper.

  3. 9

    Combine and Bake

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to combine. Pour into a greased baking dish, top with breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden and bubbly.

Biscuit

  1. 10

    Prepare the Biscuit Dough

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk until just combined.

  2. 11

    Shape and Bake

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently. Roll out to about 1-inch thickness. Cut into rounds and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
