Fried Chicken

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine the chicken thighs and buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Coat the Chicken

Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring it is well coated. Shake off any excess flour.

  4. 4

    Fry the Chicken

In a large frying pan or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the chicken pieces, cooking for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature is 165°F (75°C).

  5. 5

    Prepare the Broccolini

While the chicken is frying, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccolini and cook for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.

  6. 6

    Serve

Once the chicken is done, remove it from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve the fried chicken alongside the cooked broccolini.
