Preparation

1

Prepare the ingredients

Chop the onion, green bell pepper, celery, and garlic. Slice the okra and set all ingredients aside.

Cooking

2

Sauté the vegetables

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, celery, and garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

3

Add the okra

Stir in the sliced okra and cook for an additional 3 minutes.

4

Prepare the broth

Add the chicken broth and tomato paste to the pot. Stir well to combine.

5

Season the gumbo

Add the Creole seasoning, bay leaves, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 20 minutes.

6

Add the seafood

After simmering, add the shrimp and crab meat to the pot. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

7

Final touches

Remove the bay leaves, adjust seasoning if needed, and stir in the chopped parsley and green onions before serving.
