Sea Scallop Preparation

Method

Sea Scallop Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Scallops

Rinse the sea scallops under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Make sure they are completely dry to ensure a good sear.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Scallops

In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Add the scallops to the bowl and gently toss to coat them in the marinade. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat over medium-high heat. Allow the pan to get hot before adding the scallops.

  4. 4

    Sear the Scallops

Once the pan is hot, place the scallops in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Sear for about 2-3 minutes on one side until a golden crust forms. Flip the scallops and cook for an additional 2 minutes, or until they are opaque and firm to the touch.

  5. 5

    Remove from Heat

Once cooked, remove the scallops from the skillet and place them on a plate.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plating

Serve the seared scallops immediately, garnished with microgreens or arugula. Add lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the scallops.
