Directions
Prepare the Breading Station
Set up a three-step breading station with flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs.
In a shallow bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In another shallow bowl, beat the eggs until well blended. In a third shallow bowl, combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
Bread the Mozzarella Sticks
Coat the mozzarella sticks in the flour, egg, and breadcrumb mixture.
Take a mozzarella stick and roll it in the flour to coat it evenly, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated. Repeat this step for all mozzarella sticks.
Freeze the Cheese Sticks
Freeze the breaded mozzarella sticks to ensure they stay intact while frying.
Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes. This helps to prevent the cheese from melting too quickly while frying.
Fry the Cheese Sticks
Heat the oil and fry the mozzarella sticks until golden brown.
In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the frozen mozzarella sticks in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serve with Marinara Sauce
Plate the fried mozzarella sticks and serve with a side of marinara sauce.
Arrange the mozzarella sticks on a serving platter and serve immediately with marinara sauce for dipping.
