Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Fish

Rinse the tilapia fillets under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

2

Set Up Breading Station

In one bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.

Frying

3

Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of the flour mixture into it; if it sizzles, it’s ready.

4

Bread the Fish

Dip each tilapia fillet first into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.

5

Fry the Fish

Carefully place the breaded fillets in the hot oil, cooking in batches if necessary. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve

6

Plating

Serve the fried tilapia pieces hot, alongside your choice of tartar sauce and hot sauce for dipping.
