Method

Bread Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Garlic Herb Topping Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Garlic Herb Butter

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, and salt. Stir well and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat.

Baking the Garlic Bread

  1. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and transfer it to a floured surface. Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a loaf or a flatbread, depending on your preference.

  2. 8

    Second Rise

Place the shaped dough onto a greased baking sheet. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

  3. 9

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough is rising.

  4. 10

    Spread the Topping

Once the dough has risen, brush the garlic herb butter generously over the top of the bread.

  5. 11

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

  6. 12

    Cool and Serve

Allow the garlic bread to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
