Method

Preparing the Patty

  1. 1

    Form the Burger Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently and form into two equal patties, each weighing 1/2 lb.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patty

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patty and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare or longer to achieve your desired doneness.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 3

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato and onion into rings.

  2. 4

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking the patty, place a slice of cheese on top of the patty to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

Optional: Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster for a few minutes until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, onion rings, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
