Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until well incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and form each into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make an indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Cook the Burger Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Prepare the Buns

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, butter the insides of the burger buns and toast them on the grill or in a separate skillet until golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 6

    Layer Ingredients

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked burger patty, sliced tomato, and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
