Method

Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing them and lightly flouring the insides.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to combine.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well blended.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined. Then carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Directions

  1. 7

    Prepare the Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar, alternating with the milk. Mix until smooth and creamy, then add the vanilla extract.

  2. 8

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes have cooled completely, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  3. 9

    Serve

Slice the cake and serve it to your guests. Enjoy your rich chocolate cake!
