Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into round patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes. If using a skillet, you can add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium doneness. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Burger Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the tomato and onion. Tear the lettuce leaves if necessary.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Toast the burger buns if desired. On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty (with melted cheese if using), a slice of tomato, a few rings of onion, ketchup, and mustard to taste. Top with the other half of the bun.
