Method

Preparing the Brisket

  1. 1

    Season the Brisket

In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub this spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it is evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Cook the Brisket

Place the seasoned brisket in a slow cooker or a smoker set to low heat. If using a slow cooker, cook for 8-10 hours on low, or until the brisket is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork. If using a smoker, smoke for approximately 6-8 hours, maintaining a consistent temperature.

  3. 3

Shred and Mix with BBQ Sauce

Once cooked, remove the brisket from the heat and let it rest for 20 minutes. Shred the brisket with two forks, then mix in the BBQ sauce until the meat is well-coated.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 4

    Toast the Buns

Preheat a skillet or grill over medium heat. Cut the sandwich buns in half and lightly butter the cut sides. Toast them on the skillet or grill until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Build the Sandwich

Place a generous amount of the shredded BBQ brisket on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with a scoop of coleslaw and some pickles. Place the top half of the bun over the fillings.
