Method
Shrimp
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- 2
Add Water
Gradually add the ice-cold water to the dry ingredients while whisking until you achieve a smooth batter.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Batter the Shrimp
Dip each shrimp into the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Shrimp
Carefully place the battered shrimp into the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Fries
- 6
Prepare the Potatoes
Peel the potatoes and cut them into fries (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick).
- 7
Soak the Fries
Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat dry.
- 8
Heat the Oil
In a separate deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 9
Fry the Fries
Add the fries in batches to the hot oil and fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.
Cocktail Sauce
- 10
Mix the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well until fully combined.
Coleslaw
- 11
Prepare the Vegetables
In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and shredded carrot.
- 12
Make the Dressing
In a separate bowl, mix the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- 13
Combine and Chill
Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrot mixture and toss to coat. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
