Reuben Sandwich Recipe

Prepare the Dressing

Make the Thousand Island Dressing
In a small bowl, combine the Thousand Island dressing, ketchup, horseradish, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.
Assemble the Sandwich

Layer the Ingredients
Lay out two slices of marble rye bread on a clean surface. On each slice, spread a generous amount of the prepared dressing.

Add Corned Beef and Sauerkraut
Next, layer 4 oz of corned beef on each slice, followed by ½ cup of sauerkraut. Top with 2 slices of Swiss cheese.

Top with Bread
Finally, place the remaining two slices of marble rye bread on top of the sandwiches.
Cook the Sandwich

Prepare for Grilling
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. While it heats, spread 1 tablespoon of butter on the outer sides of each sandwich.

Grill the Sandwich
Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwiches and add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Cook for another 4-5 minutes until the second side is golden and the cheese is melted.
Serve

Slice and Serve
Once cooked, remove the sandwiches from the skillet. Let them rest for 1-2 minutes before slicing in half. Serve hot with additional Thousand Island dressing on the side, if desired.
