Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 6

    Slice the Tomato

While the patties are cooking, slice the large tomato into thick slices.

  2. 7

    Wash and Prepare Lettuce

Wash the lettuce leaves and pat them dry.

  3. 8

    Prepare Pickles

If using whole pickles, slice them into rounds.

Assemble the Cheeseburgers

  1. 9

    Toast the Buns (Optional)

If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 10

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, tomato slices, pickle slices, and a cooked patty with melted cheese.

  3. 11

    Add Condiments

Top the patties with ketchup and mustard to taste, then place the top half of the bun on each burger.
