Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place two slices of American cheese on each patty. Cover with a lid or a metal bowl to help the cheese melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 4

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce. Slice the tomato and onion into thin rings.

  2. 5

    Toast the Buns

Cut the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  3. 6

    Build the Burger

Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a cheeseburger patty on top, followed by a layer of lettuce, tomato slices, and onion rings. Top with the other half of the bun.

  4. 7

    Serve

Serve the double cheeseburgers immediately with your favorite sides.
