Cooking Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

Add Salt
Once the water is boiling, add 1 tsp of salt to the water.

Cook Pasta
Add 2 cups of pasta to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes for al dente.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
Preparing Sauce

Heat Olive Oil
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

Sauté Garlic
Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the skillet. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Add Tomatoes
Pour in 1 can (14 oz) of crushed tomatoes and stir well.

Simmer Sauce
Simmer the sauce for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Add Basil and Cheese
Stir in 1 cup of fresh basil and 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until well combined.

Season with Pepper
Add black pepper to taste.

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained pasta to the sauce in the skillet. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

Serve
Serve hot in bowls, garnished with fresh basil leaves and red pepper flakes to taste.
