Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, add the pasta. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Drain and Reserve

Once cooked, drain the pasta, reserving about 1 cup of the pasta cooking water for later use.

Preparing the Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté the Garlic

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.

  2. 4

    Add Cherry Tomatoes

Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes start to soften.

  3. 5

    Combine with Pasta

Add the drained pasta to the skillet along with the reserved pasta water, chopped basil, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes. Toss everything together until well combined.

Finishing Touches

  1. 6

    Add Cheese and Optional Ingredients

Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, and if desired, add lemon juice and toasted pine nuts for extra flavor.

  2. 7

    Serve

Serve the pasta warm, garnished with additional basil leaves and Parmesan cheese if desired.
