Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the ingredients
Wash and dry the fresh spinach. Core and slice the apple into thin wedges, leaving the skin on. Mince the garlic and chop the onion.
Cooking
- 2
Sauté the onion and garlic
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until translucent. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
- 3
Add the apple
Add the sliced apple to the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apple slices are slightly softened.
- 4
Add the spinach
Gradually add the fresh spinach to the skillet, allowing it to wilt down. This may need to be done in batches if your skillet is not large enough. Stir frequently until all the spinach is wilted, about 3-5 minutes.
- 5
Season the dish
Once the spinach is wilted, season with salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Stir well to combine and cook for another minute to allow the flavors to meld.
- 6
Serve
Remove from heat and serve warm. This dish can be served as a side or as a light main course.
