Method

Prepare the Burger

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently and form into one 8oz patty.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patty

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.

Grill the Onions

  1. 3

    Sauté the Onions

In a separate skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Slice the yellow onion and add it to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10-15 minutes, or until the onions are soft and caramelized.

Make the Remoulade

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, horseradish, chopped capers, and lemon juice until well combined. Set aside.

Grill the Bread and Assemble

  1. 5

    Butter the Bread

Spread butter on one side of each slice of marble rye bread.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Patty Melt

On the unbuttered side of two slices of bread, place the cooked burger patty, top it with the grilled onions, Swiss cheese, and cheddar cheese. Spread a generous amount of the remoulade on the other two slices of bread and place them on top, buttered side up.

  3. 7

    Grill the Sandwich

Heat the skillet or grill over medium heat. Add the assembled sandwich and grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
