Ingredients

Method

Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. 2

    Melt the Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture is completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until the mixture is light and frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Slowly pour the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg and sugar mixture while whisking continuously. Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, and mix until fully combined.

  5. 5

    Add Cocoa Powder

Sift the cocoa powder into the batter and fold gently with a spatula until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Baking Dish

Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan with butter or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

  7. 7

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, carefully turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Serve with whipped cream or fresh berries, if desired.
