Fondue Preparation

Prepare the Cheese Mixture
Grate the Gruyère and Emmental cheese and set aside.

Prepare the Pot
Cut the garlic clove in half and rub the inside of a fondue pot or heavy saucepan with the cut side of the garlic.

Combine Ingredients
In the fondue pot, pour the dry white wine and heat it over medium heat until it starts to simmer.

Add Cheese
Gradually add the grated cheese to the simmering wine, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until melted and smooth.

Thicken the Mixture
In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with lemon juice to create a slurry. Add this to the cheese mixture and stir well to thicken.

Season the Fondue
Add a pinch of nutmeg and black pepper to taste. Stir well to combine.
Serving the Fondue

Prepare the Dippers
Cut the sourdough bread into cubes, slice the apples into wedges, and wash the strawberries.

Serve
Transfer the melted cheese mixture to a fondue pot with a candle or burner underneath to keep warm. Arrange the dippers on a platter alongside the fondue pot.

Use fondue forks or skewers to dip the bread, apple wedges, and strawberries into the melted cheese. Enjoy immediately!
